River Rouge Woman Charged in Fatal Shooting of Ohio Man
Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Theresa Imani Bragg, 30, (DOB: 11/01/1990), of River Rouge, in connection with the fatal shooting of John Laverette, 26, (DOB: 02/19/1995) of Ohio. Mr. Laverette was the estranged boyfriend of Defendant Bragg.
On May 2, 2021, at approximately 4:13 p.m., River Rouge police were dispatched to a residence in the 20 block of Linden Street in River Rouge for a reported shooting. Upon arrival, officers located the victim unresponsive on the floor with multiple gunshot wounds. Medics arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The defendant was arrested at the scene.
It is alleged that victim and Bragg had an argument over the two children they had in common. The children were not present in the home at the time. The argument escalated and it is alleged that Defendant Bragg armed herself with a gun and fatally shot Mr. Laverette multiple times.
Theresa Imani Bragg has been charged with one count of Premeditated First-Degree Murder and one count of Felony Firearm. * She was arraigned and remanded to jail today in 25th District Court. The Probable Cause Hearing is on May 18th and the Preliminary Examination is on May 25th. Please request a photograph of the defendant from the River Rouge Police Department.
